“Jordan’s Online Media Freedom at Stake” covers challenges to digital safety and media freedom online in Jordan following an IPI mission to the country May 19 to 21, 2015.
Among other things, the report looks Jordan’s controversial website licensing requirement, included in the Press and Publications Law; the country’s cybercrime law, which foresees prison sentences for defamation and insult committed online; and a vaguely written Anti-Terrorism Law that has contributed to censorship on topics related to terrorism.
The mission to Jordan and report were conducted as part of IPI’s digital media initiative On</the>Line.
